Alec Bradley Overture and a Guinness Foreign Extra

A very tasty cigar from Alec Bradley and a Guinness Foreign Extra stout on the anniversary of our independence.

Remember, we fought against the oppression of a foreign state, not the people. We need to be as critical at home in modern times.

Flying Dog's Gonzo Imperial Porter, a Tribute to Thompson

I have long been a fan of Hunter S. Thompson. I lose myself in many of his pieces on travel, motorbikes, and rally racing. The Song of the Sausage Creature is one of my all time favorite of his works. Riding a Ducati at speeds that tempt the Grim Reaper to collect you prematurely...

Ralph Steadman somehow survived his encounter and subsequent experiences with Thompson and had been illustrating covers for the Flying Dog brewery. One of the latest creations is an imperial porter paying homage to Thompson with the quote "Good people drink good beer." the porter is stout at 9.2% ABV, but is smoother and milder than many of it's peers.

Flying Dog has this to say of the brew:
Dark, malty and mysterious, this porter is as complex as the man it celebrates. Brewed to honor the life of Hunter S. Thompson, Gonzo Imperial Porter is an assault on your taste buds with just the right amount of irreverence thrown in.
